I am not really a homebody by nature.  I like to get out and do things and see people.  In my world, everything is more fun with a friend.  I like company.  Lately, I have been staying in and savoring quiet time more.

Josh and the girls went out last Friday night.  I usually go out to dinner and spend that time talking to someone. This time, I stayed home.  I thought it might be fun.  I got bored quickly and went to bed at 8 30.  I decided I like quiet time at home--if someone is at home with me.

Spring break fun

So, this week ended up being crazy with school zone messes.  Sorry.

Last week before all that stuff--Spring Break.

1. Delaney had a sleepover.
2. Botanical Gardens and the Big Bug stuff there.
3. Josh and I had a great time at the Arlington in Hot Springs.
4. McClard's Barbeque in Hot Springs.
5. My favorite shop in Hot Springs with all kinds of odd (expensive too) food--samples too.
6. Friends' new baby was born the day we got to town in Arkansas.  So cute!
7. Old Mill in North Little Rock with more friends.
8. Flying Fish in Little Rock-Yum.
9. Trolley ride with Claire.

School Rezoning Opinion

I went to the town meeting concerning the rezoning. I agree with the four criteria outlined in that meeting. My neighborhood was proposed to stay in Heritage zone. We were not changed due to those factors. Today, I see we are proposed to change to Mill Creek.

It is my opinion that many of the changes were made to keep the peace with some of the outspoken neighborhoods. My neighborhood is a victim of making others happy. I have loved Madison for the nine years I have lived here. I am disappointed that the board is choosing to change, in my opinion to make A FEW happy.

My neighborhood, Rolling Meadows in Limestone Co. is not a large community. I would have been content with rezoning with the original plan. I feel that being rezoned to keep others happy is a slap in the face.

All this said, I know my girls will have as fine an education at any of the schools in Madison City. This roller coaster of emotion and change is not good for anyone. I am honestly upset today by this news.

Stupid School Rezoning

They changed it.  We are going to go to another school.  Ugh.

Maybe, who knows anymore?

My LIfe According to Jimmy Buffett

I could not resist this one. I usually pass these things over, I am proud of myself that I did look up any of the songs. Sadly, I knew them all.

Using only song names from ONE ARTIST, cleverly answer these questions.

Pick Your Artist: Jimmy Buffett

1. Are you male or female: "There's a Woman Going Crazy on Caroline St."

2. Describe yourself: "Thank My Lucky Stars"

3. How do you feel about yourself: "Pacing the Cage"

4. Describe where you currently live: "Stars Fell on Alabama"

5. If you could go anywhere, where would you go: "Havana Daydreamin'"

6. Your best friend is: "Fruitcakes"

7. Your favorite color is: "Scarlet Begonias"

8. You know that: there is no "Trying to Reason with the Hurricane Season"

9. What's the weather like: "Defying Gravity"

10. If your life was a tv show, what would it be called: "Love and Luck"

11. What is life to you: "One Particular Harbour"

12. What is the best advice you have to give: "Survive"

13. If you could change your name, what would it be: "Little Miss Magic"

40 cents

Forty cents bought me four April 09 magazines.  I was surprised to see such current magazines at the thrift store.  I love magazines, and amazing to those who know how many magazines I subscribe to--They were all magazines I didn't have.

I went home and read three of them.  Josh said I made a nest.  I lit a candle, covered up with a blanket and read.  It was a good afternoon.

We searched all four of the thrift stores in Madison and ate at Spice of India.  That sounds like a perfect day to me.  Follow that with reading new magazines--wow!  It seems like an excellent start to Spring Break to me.

Who am I?

My mom always said, she never figured out what she wanted to be when she grew up.  I always thought that was funny.  The older I get, the more I understand what she meant.  There are so many dreams of youth.  Life will have such passion and excitement.

I think of Rick Bayless.  He is the Mexican Chef extraordinaire.  That man is passionate about Mexico.  When he writes or speaks on the subject--he is captivating.  His passion is evident.

I often wonder--in what area am I passionate like this?

In like a Lion

March came with a roar.  It snowed on March 1.  Today, it was definitely more like a lamb.  We sat on our friends' patio.  The kids played outside.  There was a fire burning in an iron pit.  It was a perfect day.

Is this Number 10?

Perhaps Jimmy says it best: Here We Are

Who would have thought this game, this flame would still be burning
Who would have guessed that all these blenders would still be churning
Not even we on our bended knees could have ever blessed it
Not even I with my head in the sky could have ever guessed it

But here we are, for a family reunion, costume barbeque
All the black sheep, family outcasts, and a freak or two

No the hat tricks and the gold bricks still don't have us down
Still a party, we are the hearty when we come to town
You're still grinning and we're still winning, nothing left to say
I'm still gliding as I go flying down this endless wave

And here we are, we're the offbeat Uncle Freds who spill their wine on you
And the in-your-face Aunt Rachels with an attitude
All the ones that use your bathroom then eat all your food
We're the dreamy Deadheads who just like us and Dave Matthews

Here we are, maybe it's because in spite of all the work we do
It's the child in us we really value
Here we are, with our fins up and our feathers flashing
Here we are, with our coconut shell brassieres chanting

It's a crazy experience. I love it. I am not a crazy person. I don't consume Landshark Lagers or Margaritaville Rum. I have never been a party gal. It could appear to many that I am an unlikely Jimmy Buffett fan.

Oh, but what I fan I am. I have a few "favorite" songs I have yet to hear live. I was fortunate a few concerts ago to hear A Woman Going Crazy on Caroline St. I screamed so loudly during the intro to that song--I swear I can hear myself on the live concert cd. Josh and I have never heard Delaney Talks to Statues. Yes, we named our daughter from a name we heard in a song. One day perhaps he will sing my "first" favorite JB song, Brand New Country Star.

It Snowed!

It snowed!  It really did this time!  An exciting day here in Madison, Alabama.
