Who is God?

Who is God?  What are the characteristics of God?  Why does the idea of the God in the some of the Old Testament seem so hard to understand?

God commanding to wipe out whole civilizations of people.  Is hard for me.  I can't imagine there was not one person in the civilization who was worthy of being saved.  I like to think all mankind is worthy of being spared.

I view God as the same.  In this I mean that God thousands of years ago, was exactly like God thousands of years from now will be.  I don't think God changes.

I am trying to turn some not quite great bread into croutons.  I am not sure if it will be a good thing or not.

Update

I should update the blog, but I can't think of anything great.  I have some photos on Josh's phone that have a story to tell.   Soon...

Church Words

Do non church goers use the word fellowship?  I guess talking or hanging out sounds more purposeful when you say fellowship.

Can people be nice or fun and not necessarily a blessing?

I wonder how often I use church words and don't even notice.

It is so much apart of my culture.  I wrote an anthropology paper in college on the culture of a christian bookstore.  There are many terms and classifications within the store that were unique to that genre.

It was oddly interesting in that Lynnea way.

Summer Vacation

Today was to be the last day of school, before the swine flu craziness hit Madison, Alabama.  They added four days--so next Friday is the official last day.  I had my last work day on Monday.  I packed a lot of boxes.  There are plans to remodel the preschool wing.

I didn't think I would care about the girls extra days.  Today I found myself wishing it was the last day.  I am ready for us all to be home.  I had two days of fun, one day of ok, and today I was bored.  I wish the girls were home with me.

My life's an open book

If It All Falls Down--written by Matt Betton
I never wanted to be
A man of mystery
My life's an open book
By James Joyce and Agatha Christie

Sometimes I get confused
Somewhere around page two
I live the perfect crime
And crime pays more than it used to

They're checkin' the evidence
May be some charges pressed
The only one they got me on
Is some misdemeanor craziness

Chorus:
If it all falls down falls down falls down
If they solve my life they find me out
Never thought to keep all I have found
I have had my fun if it all falls down

Best Day Ever...

Josh said this yesterday.  Some days seem that way, everything falls in place.  Here's to more of those days!

Let's go, who's in?

I strive for an ideal that may not be obtainable--but a life not aiming for the best would not be right.  Do we settle for less, so we will not be disappointed?  That seems sad to me.  I don't know if that is what I wish for myself and my friends/family.

Let's live beyond our wildest dreams--let's not give up on the ideal!  Anyone want to come along?

Varsity Peach Pies

There may not be a better food than a Fried Peach Pie from The Varsity.  I had one today, I was not disappointed.  They alone may be worth the drive.

I didn't have to settle only for my pie, we spent a good bit of time in IKEA.  We have three new bookshelves, a coat rack, and other things to assemble.  I also went to the World of Coca Cola.  I have never been there before.

Delaney and I both made ourselves a little queasy trying all the different soft drinks from all over the world.  Claire found one she liked and drank that one.  Bitter Lemon from England was my favorite.  It was fun day.  I even got to stop at a QT, which I love--they remind me of Missouri.

Atlanta

We are making a day trip to Atlanta.  I am looking forward to it.  It's part of my Mother's Day wish.  I like to get out of town.  I am dreaming of a bookcase for all my scrapbooks stuff at IKEA. I have no good place to display all my completed albums!

It's just fun to get out of town.

Oh on school note,  I have completed all my kids' books with their work and such in them. Horray!  This is much more exciting than it sounds.  I am thrilled!  I finished them tonight at about 8:30!

Back..

Tomorrow, we all go back to school.  I feel overwhelmed, but I have a ton to do.  Since we had an unexpected week off, I am way behind on getting stuff ready for graduation.  I don't know how I can squeeze it all in.

I have a headache thinking about it.

Home Sweet Home

We are staying in--way more than we are used to.  The girls are out of school for maybe up to two weeks.  I have been cooking.  Lettuce wraps, party mix, homemade pizzas, banana bread--I just put some blackberry cobbler in the oven.

Today I learned...

Rainbow Fish and The Giving Tree are controversial.   Did you know?
